If you have a composite deck installed, you have probably noticed how low maintenance it is. Even so, over time, it can still accumulate dirt and grime. So what is the safest way to approach deck cleaning without causing damage or risking the voiding of the warranty?
Low maintenance is not just a selling phrase for these materials. If you have a composite deck, all you need to do to maintain it is to keep the surface clean. Deck cleaning can also be both beneficial and satisfying.
What you will need to get started:
- Garden hose & nozzle
- Soft bristle scrub brush
- Deck cleaner
Mix cleaning solution into water
Fill the bucket with water prior to adding any chemicals. This will prevent any potentially harmful chemicals from making contact with skin. ALWAYS BE SURE TO FOLLOW THE MANUFACTURE INSTRUCTIONS WHEN USING ANY TYPE OF CLEANING AGENTS.
Spray entire deck thoroughly
Be sure to spray down the entire deck before applying any cleaning agents
Scrub deck to remove debris
Scrub deck until all debris and grime has been loosened and removed from the deck boards.
Spray entire deck thoroughly (again)
Be sure to wash off any residual cleaning agents
