Prevent Rot On Your Next Deck With G-Tape

After building thousands of decks, we’ve learned that long-term durability comes down to the details. One of the most effective ways to extend the life of a deck is by protecting the framing from moisture. That’s why we use G-Tape on every deck we build.

G-Tape is a small step in the building process that makes a big difference. It helps protect the structure from rot, keeps the framing solid, and ensures the deck performs well for years.

What Is G-Tape?

G-Tape is a high-performance acrylic flashing tape designed to seal and protect deck framing from water damage. It’s made from four layers: two low density polyethylene laminates, a high-density polyethylene cloth core, and a strong acrylic adhesive.

This combination makes G-Tape waterproof, UV resistant, and durable in extreme temperatures from -40°F all the way up to 200°F. It can be used on wood, metal, plastic, and even glass, creating a lasting layer that won’t dry out or peel.

Why We Use G-Tape

1. It Protects the Structure

The most common spot for deck rot starts where fasteners penetrate the joists. G-Tape’s self-sealing adhesive bonds around each screw or nail, stopping water from getting in. That seal helps prevent rot and extends the life of the framing.

2. It Performs in Any Weather

G-Tape doesn’t crack, curl, or deteriorate in the sun or cold. It holds up year after year, no matter the climate or conditions.

3. It’s Simple to Install

G-Tape tears cleanly by hand, no knife or scissors needed. It’s repositionable during installation, and after 24 hours, it forms a permanent seal. It saves time on site while still giving long term protection.

4. It Improves the Finished Look

The tape’s black surface helps hide joists under composite decking and makes hidden fasteners less visible. It’s a subtle but noticeable improvement to the finished product.

Built to Last

At Cascade Fence & Deck, we focus on building decks that stay solid for decades, not just years. G-Tape is one of the simple tools that helps us do that. It protects the structure, adds longevity, and keeps our builds looking and performing their best.
